You have DOT and MC. That is not the whole job.

The numbers opened the company. Most CDL owner-operators hauling between states still need four things. Without them, the scale house writes the ticket, the broker will not book the truck, and an FMCSA review has an empty folder.

Why you still need them

  1. BOC-3 (49 CFR Part 366) Your process agent in every state. Without that filing, the MC often never fully turns on.
  2. UCR (49 U.S.C. § 14504a) Yearly registration to haul between states. Let it lapse and the scale fines you, even with the numbers in your pocket.
  3. Driver file (DQF) (49 CFR Part 391) CDL, medical card, driving record. You drive your own truck. The file is still required. Under the rule you are the company and the driver.
  4. Drug and alcohol program (49 CFR Part 382) First test, randoms, Clearinghouse. No program, and an FMCSA review often stops right there. This is not a later item.

The price, so you can see it.

BOC-3 (49 CFR Part 366) Process agent, all states $60
UCR (49 U.S.C. § 14504a) One year, 0–2 trucks, all-in $97
DQ file (49 CFR Part 391) Driver documents $199
Drug & alcohol (49 CFR Part 382) 1 CDL driver $275
We provide more services than these four. You can hear about them on a personal consult.

For one CDL driver and 0–2 trucks. UCR $97 is the full price for one year at that size. You buy your own insurance. Another year, more trucks, or a non-CDL driver is a different price. If you already have a line, you do not need it again.

Call or write. We will go through it.

Three questions. This page does not take payment.

  1. CDL, or not.
  2. Between states, or one state.
  3. What is already filed. You hear which of the four apply, and you can ask about the rest.
